The list of recalled foods linked to peanut butter is getting bigger and bigger. Grocery and pet stores in southern Colorado report they're pulling items from shelves and flagging items at checkout.
The Peanut Corporation of America's latest recall covers to more than 120 different products for people and pets.
Despite nationwide salmonella fears, Chris Siedenburg has no current plans to cut off the household peanut butter supply.
"It’s not a huge concern, but we keep our eyes and ears open to what’s going on,” he said.
The Food and Drug Administration is concerned about cookies, ice cream and dog treats made with certain kinds of peanut butter.
“I know I used it, so I just have to keep my eyes open and my fingers crossed,” said Iris Igo. Igo returned several bags of dog treats to PetSmart Wednesday following the recall notice.
PetSmart is pulling seven flavors of Grreat Choice Treats from shelves accepting returns, and destroying every cookie based on the FDA warnings.
Local health officials say major brands of jarred peanut butter are safe.
