Waist Size May Show Stroke Risk

A large waist size may be a warning sign for stroke.

German researchers found being fat around the middle may raise the risk of stroke. They also say it’s a better indicator of a person’s risk than their overall body weight.

The researchers looked at several markers of obesity. They determined people with the highest so-called “waist to hip ratio” had seven times greater the risk of stroke compared to those with the smallest waist size.
