New Numbers on Unintentional Deaths in Kids

The World Health Organization and the CDC report more than 950,000 children under the age of 18 are killed every year by injury or violence. Of that number, 830,000 died from unintentional injury.

Road crashes are the main cause of death and injury among children worldwide.

The WHO report recommends seat belts, motorcycle helmets and minimum drinking-age laws to prevent more road accidents. Burns, poisoning and falls are also top causes of unintentional injury.
