Doctors, nurses, and even patients gathered in the parking lot of Penrose Community Hospital Friday morning for a farewell breakfast.
After more than 30 years in the North Academy Boulevard area, the hospital will be closing on August 16th.
Penrose says the breakfast was a chance to celebrate decades of providing community care, and reminisce with neighbors in the Village Seven area.
When Penrose closes, a new St. Francis Medical Center will open on the corner of Powers Boulevard and Woodmen Road.
Then, Penrose Urgent Care will open on Aug. 18 for non-emergent illnesses and injuries, and will operate from the current Penrose Community Hospital Emergency Room.
