Supporters of a ballot measure that would change school finance in Colorado and raise taxes have doubled their fundraising effort with $1.6 million in contributions over the past two weeks.

The group now has raised more than $3.2 million aimed at winning approval for the measure on the November ballot.

According to the Denver Post, two groups opposing the measure did not file their campaign finance reports by Monday, but they still have time to file.

The proposed tax would raise nearly $1 billion a year for education upgrades, including expanded kindergarten and preschool, and more attention for disabled students and students learning English.
