BOSTON (AP) -- Mitt Romney presidential campaign says he raised $11.5 million in February.

The campaign announced the fundraising total Wednesday at Romney's Boston headquarters. Officials say it was the second-best month ever for the campaign.

Still, the haul isn't substantially more than rival Rick Santorum, whose campaign says he raised more than $9 million last month.

Romney had a substantial financial advantage in states like Michigan and Ohio, where he won recent contests by narrow margins. He's facing a long slog through the next few months ahead of the Republican National Convention.
