Mitt Romney, seemingly formidable after back-to-back wins in Iowa and New Hampshire, is actually not 2-0, Republican officials say.

The final tally of votes out of Iowa were certified Thursday, and have flipped in Rick Santorum's favor. After initial returns gave Romney an eight vote victory, the final tally shows Santorum leading Romney by 34 votes. The Iowa caucus named Santorum the official winner Friday.

Initially it was widely reported that no winner would be named for the Iowa caucus due to votes from eight of the 1,774 precincts still missing. The Iowa Republican Party later clarified that despite the missing ballots, they were naming Santorum the winner based on the votes that were tallied. The Iowa GOP is uncertain if the missing votes will ever be recovered.

Though Santorum is not expected to give Romney much competition in Saturday's South Carolina primary, the victory has thrown a minor wrench in Romney's momentum, and gave Santorum bragging rights--which he touted in Thursday night's debate when he reminded Newt Gingrich that he had as much right to continue competing as he does.
