Hooked - (Stacia Naquin)
Updated: 10/11/2013 - I'm SO CLOSE to being able to do a pull-up. So my trainer introduced something new into my training.
A famous comedian known for his "You Might Be A Redneck" one-liners thinks that Colorado can make a difference this election.
That's why Jeff Foxworthy came to the Springs in support of the Romney/Ryan campaign.
"It you're standing on a truck, you just might be a redneck," Foxworthy cracked, addressing dozens of supporters from on top of a truck at the campaign's El Paso Victory Center Saturday morning.
Supporters sported orange hats and vests to represent the sportsmen and women of Colorado.
Foxworthy and other speakers focused on how hunters and anglers fuel an economic engine for the nation, and that they need to fight for their right to bear arms.
"We're a heart attack away from losing the right to bear arms," Foxworthy said, discussing how the fate of sportsmen and the Second Amendment are separated by one vote within the Supreme Court.
A hot topic for the comedian was the nation's trillion dollar debt.
“It’s a disaster, it’s exactly the formula for what has happened to Greece and what’s happening to Spain right now, we cannot sustain this. We have to put people back to work, we have to get control of this national debt, and if we don’t our kids are not gonna know the same country that we knew," said Foxworthy.
A Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan administration would be just the way to reign in out of control spending and get people employed again, Foxworthy told supporters.
"It's time for somebody that understands business to get in and run the biggest business in the world, which is the government of the U.S., and put people back to work and cut this runaway debt."
Another hot topic for the comedian was conservation.
"It’s like Clint Eastwood said. This country is ours. We own this country, we own this land. I don't want somebody cutting it off from public use or making it national monuments. It's our land. The right to hunt and fish, somebody died for that somewhere."
"This election is not about Big Bird, and it's not about binders, it's about jobs. It's about people losing 30-40 percent of their net worth, it's about people being out of work for years and years, it's about the national debt," said Foxworthy.
Ryan will be making a campaign stop to the Springs Sunday afternoon. His event will be held at the Colorado Jet Center by the airport at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.
