Large numbers are turning up for Colorado's first ever recall elections. State Senators John Morse and Angela Giron are facing a recall for their votes on controversial gun control measures in the Senate earlier this year.

Thursday marked the first day of early voting. More than 3,500 people in Colorado Springs voted in the Morse recall Thursday. Despite the large number of voters, poll workers say the voting went smoothly.

Because of Thursday's high turnout, Colorado Springs polling locations will open early at 7:30 a.m. Friday and Monday at the Citizens Service Center, Southeast Powers branch, and the downtown location at Centennial Hall. The official election day is Tuesday.
