Colorado's newest state senators will be officially sworn in Thursday.

Last month, voters recalled Senators Angela Giron of Pueblo and John Morse of Colorado Springs for their positions on gun control.

Bernie Herpin and George Rivera were elected to take the ousted senators' place. Both will take their oath of office as senators Thursday.

Herpin spoke with 11 News after he was elected, and recalled how he returned to the political arena.

"I thought I was done with politics, but I got a call asking me to run so I talked it over with my family...and here I am!"

The swearing-in is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Colorado state capitol in Denver.
