A group of El Paso County and Fremont County residents went looking for Lamborn to join their fight, and sign their petition, Monday.
The protest comes in response to Lamborn's comment regarding NPR, in which he says that Americans should "stop funding an organization that can stand on its own feet."
The group is asking him to sign a cost-cutting pledge and hold on to his promise to cut federal spending by axing funds given to the oil, gas and nuclear industries. The group says companies like Exxon Mobile, BP, Chevron, Shell and Conoco can stand on their own.
Rep. Lamborn wasn't there, but sent this statement in response, “Congressman Lamborn appreciates and considers the views of all his constituents. He respects the right of citizens to peaceably assemble and express those views.” – Catherine Mortensen, Communications Director.
