DA Announces Bid For Reelection

Fourth Judicial District Attorney Dan May formally announced his candidacy for reelection Tuesday.
Attorney General John Suthers and Teller County Commission Chairman Jim Ignatius took the stage first to speak in support of May’s candidacy. Next, May spoke and touted a number of statistics about his office’s record-setting year.
According to May, his office tried more felony cases than any other judicial district in Colorado during 2011.
May was elected to his first term in 2008, after a previous stint in the office that ended in 2004. In the intervening years, he was head of all county courts in the 18th Judicial District. He holds a law degree from the Creighton School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.
