Fourth Judicial District Attorney Dan May formally announced his candidacy for reelection Tuesday.

Attorney General John Suthers and Teller County Commission Chairman Jim Ignatius took the stage first to speak in support of May’s candidacy. Next, May spoke and touted a number of statistics about his office’s record-setting year.

According to May, his office tried more felony cases than any other judicial district in Colorado during 2011.

May was elected to his first term in 2008, after a previous stint in the office that ended in 2004. In the intervening years, he was head of all county courts in the 18th Judicial District. He holds a law degree from the Creighton School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dan Mays should have been booted out of office a long time ago. I'd bet money he doesn't win re-election.

I feel the same. He has done nothing for us. His department needs a total house cleaning and someone needs to be checking in on what exactly is happening in our courts and people assigned to watch over crime violators!! No way will he get my vote ever!!

Why, so he can make more plea deals with more child killers. I don't think the people will forget that for a long time.

NO WAY is that going to happen. Like we really need a DA who's priority is putting cancer patients and cargivers into prison for growing or using medical marijuana as allowed by out constitution. What a huge waste of manpower and money! Vote for anybody except for Dan May!
