Colo. Secretary Of State Calling For Governor To Set Recall Election Dates

The Colorado secretary of state is accusing the governor of refusing to perform his constitutional duty to set election dates for two Democratic senators up for recall.

Secretary of State Scott Gessler is seeking a court order to force Gov. John Hickenlooper's hand. Hickenlooper says he is waiting on a court hearing Wednesday where a judge will rule about some confusion over the law.

Democrat Senate President John Morse from Colorado Springs and Senator Angela Giron from Pueblo are facing recalls after opponents turned in petitions earlier this month. The recalls stem from anger over recent gun legislation signed into state law. Morse and Giron are being targeted by gun-rights activists because they supported the gun control measures.
