Tuesday, in a special election, voters within the the Cherokee Water District were successful in recalling the board president, Robert Lovato.

The special election was held after enough petitions were collected back in November to go forward with the recall vote. Lovato was removed by a margin of 82-percent. Voters chose Larry Wayne Keleher as Lovato's successor.

According to the ballot question, citizens moved to remove Lovato after what they say was "deliberate, repeated, and willful disregard for citizens," read the recall ballot question. Lovato was allowed to put his responses to those accusations on the recall ballot.

Seriously citzenruth10, are you related to Lovato or what? Robert Lovato has been on the board for at least the 6 years I've been living in the district and has been as much a part of the problem as the rest of them. It is a conflict to serve on the Woodmen Hills Board when Cherokee supplies water to them, and he lives in that district. It also sounds suspicious that he works for/with a known developer in the area, who is also on the board. The only vision Lovato had was likely lining his pockets. Sounds like you're either a relative or your more ignorant to the issues than everyone else.

To the residents of Cherokee Water your vote on Tuesday 120710 shows we believe we need change, but we all need to step up. Attend the next water meeting on Tuesday 12/14/10 at 4:30pm at Cherokee Water. We all need to be responsible for the area we live in. We talked the talk now we need to walk the walk!

It would seem the general public has absolutely no clue how a water board works! Rate increases were a direct result of poor management at Cherokee Metro in the past. There are 20 year old pipes in the infrastructure that need to be replaced because that was never done in the two decades past as it should have been. Now its a game of catch up and bursting water mains, plus managing new growth. Voting Robert Lovato out only takes away his vision and expertise for a way to get Cherokee back on track, it doesn't magically provide more water. Get a clue!! It's easy to point fingers when the people attached to those fingers are ignorant to the cause.

The people of Cherokee Water District have been voicing their opinion for awhile and have only fallen on the deaf ears of Robert Lovato, but we were finally heard yesterday and our lawns are SCREAMING YES FINALLY!!!!!

I hope the recall committee that is forming plans to pay for this recall since I have no intention on paying for another failed recall.

Robert Lovato was *only* voted off due to misconceptions and half truths. The TRUTH is Mr. Lovato did nothing wrong and has achieved more in 6 months than could be said for the past decade. Now see what gets done with the liars, cheats, and cutthroats in office!

All of Cherokee Water is crooked. The passed on an 80% water hike recently, merely because they could not file their water rights in the time required. Who can afford an 80% water hike these days. No wonder the properties in this area look like a disgrace, and the city and county did nothing to prevent the tremendous hike is what is insane!!!

Congratulations to Cherokee Metropolitan District -- you made the right choice. Next, we get him off Woodmen Hills board!!!! A recall committee is forming now. Robert's 15 minutes of fame is over--time for him to go back to his dump truck and stop trying to dictate to the rest of us.
