Photo ID at the ballots nixed by Colo. lawmakers

Senate Democrats nixed a proposal to ask voters whether people should provide photo identification before casting their ballot.

A Senate committee rejected the proposal Wednesday on party-line vote. House Republicans previously passed the measure.

The measure died on the same day Minnesota lawmakers referred a measure to voters in November asking whether photo ID should be required at the polls.

Democrats say voter impersonation is rare and that requiring photo ID at the polls could lead to voter suppression among minorities, the elderly and the homeless. Republicans say the requirement does not decrease voter turnout and that it's needed to prevent voter fraud.

Colorado Republicans tried a similar proposal last year but it wouldn't have required the voters' approval. That bill also failed in the Senate.

Democrats had to kill this. The people would let it pass if we ever got the chance to vote for it. If we are required to have an ID to vote, then the Democrats will lose all of the illegal votes they need, that keep them in office!

Bet you couldn't walk into Gov Hickenlooper (D)or any other (D) lawmaker's office without a photo ID. Their opposition proves they endorse voter fraud.

A friends mother works in Chicago in the County Clerks Office and told me that since the law was passed at the Illinois state level years ago to not require a valid ID at the time of voting or registering that voter fraud accounts for more votes being cast than previously registered voters.
