If you're wondering why Senator Joe Biden's name keeps popping up on vice presidential short lists, it could be because he could shore up some of Barack Obama's perceived shortcomings.
Obama is expected to name his running mate Monday or Tuesday, and his staff in Chicago and party activists are buzzing about Biden. He'd come with loads of experience, especially on world affairs. And the sharp-tongued Democrat is quick with a partisan slam, at a time when Obama's lead in the polls has slipped under a barrage of attacks from John McCain.
Obama also is believed to be considering Governors Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas and Tim Kaine of Virginia, and Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana.
