John McCain is suggesting he's open to another economic stimulus package, including an extension of unemployment benefits.

He wouldn't give a number for the size of a stimulus package, but told a group of major contributors that whatever can be done in the short term to ease the burden is something we should do. Barack Obama has suggested a new stimulus package totaling 50 billion dollars.

The apparent common ground was a blip for Tuesday. The candidates spent most of the day picking apart each other's economic ideas.

McCain criticized Obama for suggesting a re-negotiation of NAFTA, saying Obama "has a habit of talking down" the value of U.S. export and trade agreements. McCain says Obama's policies would make life tougher for small business.

Obama says his positions are being misrepresented and says he would eliminate the capital gains tax for small businesses and start-ups.
