John McCain continues to say Barack Obama needs to head to Iraq soon to talk to General David Petraeus, other commanders and the troops to understand what's going on in the war.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in suburban Milwaukee, McCain said the likely Democratic nominee can't fully appreciate the challenges American troops face if he doesn't visit.
McCain told the crowd that pulling out of Iraq too soon would have "catastrophic consequences."
Obama is considering his first visit to Iraq since launching his presidential bid, but has rejected McCain's offer of a joint trip, calling it a political stunt.
