Fundraising for the Democratic National Convention remains a problem for Colorado Democrats, who are expected to raise $40.6 million to stage the event.

Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper says organizers have about $25 million in cash and another $5.5 million in firm commitments. He says his greatest fear is that they won't be able to raise the money.

State Democratic Party chairwoman Pat Waak says fundraising has been a struggle, but she thinks the goal will be met.
