Hillary Clinton has been talking up her strength on defense and veterans issues in North Carolina.

Many military families were among the several hundred people in a Fayetteville crowd when she discussed her plans to improve life for veterans and said she wants to bring troops home from Iraq "as responsibly and quickly as we can."

North Carolina is home to the Marine Corps' Camp Lejeune and the Army's Fort Bragg whose troops have suffered heavy losses in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Clinton plans two more appearances in the state today, joined by supporters with military and defense backgrounds.

North Carolina holds its primary May 6th; Obama is favored there.
