16 Percent Of Americans Approve Of Congress, New Poll Says

House lawmakers return to Capitol Hill Tuesday, but not to a warm welcome from Americans.

Congressional approval is at an all-time low. A new Washington Post poll shows 84 percent of Americans now disapprove of the job Congress is doing.

The House of Representatives could be greeted by the largest Occupy protest yet, it protesters get their way. A daylong protest has been planned in front of the Capitol, which organizers hope will be the largest gathering of activists yet.

The National Park Service has allowed occupiers to camp on two public squares near the White House, giving protesters more of a foothold in D.C. than almost anywhere else in the country.

The Senate reconvenes next week.

We've seen data like this before. Did anybody check the data for the follow-on question; what do you think about YOUR congressman? Usually, about 2/3rds are happy with their own elected official. This means that there will be no changes in the next election.

Not one of these politicians in office will receive my vote, not a single one. They aren't worth the dirt on the bottom of my shoes.

So congress isn't popular and Obama gets cheers for bypassing congress. I think we know what the next step will be. Barry just might be the last president of the US.

The disapproval with Congress is due in fact that they were put in place in the last election to STOP the democrats spending like drunken sailor mentality. As well as stop Obamacare as well as other non affordable programs put in place by a non budget producing, free spending entitlement DEMOCRAT PARTY. That is the disapproval they are facing. The majority of this nation knows we can not continue on Obama, Pilosi and Reids path of financial destruction. Boehner Failed us and the Tea Party is looking for his as well as many other RHINOS replacements. The majority of this nation will no longer allow RECKLESS LIBERAL SPENDING for entitlements and racist social justice causes and spreading the wealth to lazy union workers and welfare queens as well as those that don't produce anything but laziness for this country embraced by Obama and the DOJ. Yes libs and Dems the majority of this nation is moving and will continue to move to conservative spending and politics, we have allowed you to fail and you failed hard with your hopeless change and socialist ideals.

I see several posts on here by folks who know nothing about self-reliance and most likely are "wards of the state". Of course they will defend and support the hands that feed them. Many Republican members of Congress are big government advocates in violation of the 10th Amendment, but most Democrats are far worse in destroying the basis of the Founding Principles of this sovereign nation. Recently, members of both parties have voted to illegally mute other Amendments of our Bill of Rights, most notably the 4th and 5th Amendments.

Republicans only think about how to improve their chances in the next election, NOT how to help this country!

Good post Nath. Let's not forget one of our Senator's campaign statements was that, it didn't take him very long (he'd been a senator for about six months) to figure out Washington. Oh you bet, didn't take him long to figure out how nod his head yes!

Hey, they should be thrilled. It's a dramatic 'increase' from a couple weeks ago when their approval rating was 15%. Take heart, ratings are going UP. Slowly.
