John McCain says Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama are wrong to threaten to pull out of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

In a town hall meeting Tuesday at an information technology company in St. Louis, McCain said it's time to stop what he calls "this protectionist NAFTA-bashing."

The Arizona senator says pressure tactics against Canada and Mexico to renegotiate the trade treaty could undermine U.S trade relations with other countries.

Instead of making demands, McCain says, "We've got to do a lot better job of taking care of those workers who have been displaced." He says those workers should be trained and educated for jobs that transition from a Rust Belt industrial base to an intellectual economy.
