Democratic presidential candidate and Illinois Senator Barack Obama has told a packed house at the University of Denver the Iraq war "should never have been authorized and should never have been waged."

Obama is visiting Colorado Wednesday as part of an effort to energize voters before the Super Tuesday primaries and caucuses that will take place in several states on February 5th.

Colorado is one of the caucus states.

Obama told the crowd that "fundamental change" is needed in America, and that the U.S. needs to do more than simply "turn the page on the Bush-Cheney policies."

Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, spoke to the crowd before Obama.

Other speakers included Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, former Colorado Senator Gary Hart, state Senate President Peter Groff and Denver Broncos wide receiver Rod Smith.
