Resolution FAQ - (Stacia Naquin)
Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
Vandals plugged the drains inside a Manitou Springs building, turned on the sinks, and caused about $100,000 worth of damage.
Water damaged the walls, ceilings and floors of the two-story Business of Art Center, located at 515 Manitou Ave. Some of the artwork inside was also damaged.
The vandalism was discovered Thursday morning, but the floors were still soaked as volunteers continued cleaning up in the late afternoon.
The BAC is a non-profit and volunteers say they can’t understand why anyone would target them.
"Who could do this? We are a nonprofit art organization,” said Erika Walter, a volunteer. “We've just done everything in our power to be the most professional and give people the best experience we can."
"I'm numb, I'm so numb. It's like, 'who would do this?,'” asked Event Coordinator Jana Rush. “I’m just beside myself.”
But the BAC is already bouncing back. They’ll hold an event from 3-5 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited to visit, have a drink, and make a donation to support the organization.
The BAC provides subsidized workspace, art classes, workshops and business classes designed to help artists turn their work into a business. The 13,000 square foot facility at 513 Manitou Ave. was opened in 1988. A second facility, at 515 Manitou Ave. was opened in 2001.
