A teenage girl was shot while driving near Aurora’s Del Mar Park Thursday night. Police are still searching for the gunman.
According to CBS4, officers were sent to the area around 8:20 p.m. and found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Three other people inside the car were not injured.
Police tell CBS4 that the girl driving northbound in the 200 block of North Peoria Street when a car drove up behind them, began to pass and then a passenger in that car shot into the girl’s vehicle several times. They don't know if the shooting was a road rage incident or if it was related to an earlier altercation.
The victim drove up onto the sidewalk and stopped. The suspect vehicle took off toward Del Mar Parkway.
Detectives are looking for a tan or brown Toyota Camry that may have been involved in the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Matt Ingui at 303-739-6067 or they can remain anonymous by reporting it to Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
