Teen Robbed At Gunpoint

Police are searching for three suspects behind an armed robbery at a local park.

Springs police say the victim, a teenager, was on his way to visit his mother Thursday evening when he stopped at the Prairie Grass Park on Chapman, near Airport and Murray. While sitting in the park, he was approached by three men. One man pulled out a handgun and hit the victim over the head. The men forced the teen to strip down, then robbed him.

The teen's jeans, sweatshirt, cell phone and wallet were all taken in the robbery. He also sustained a contusion and cut to his head.

The armed suspect has been described as a black man, 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, wearing a long black leather jacket and jeans. Police say he had a full beard at the time of the robbery.

A second suspect has been described as a black man, 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, wearing a red baseball cap with a white design on it, red short sleeve shirt, and either blue or black pants.

Police do not have an available description of the third suspect, as the victim did not get a good look at him.

Anyone with information on the crime are asked to call police, or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

@anonymous, I agree. I think uncle wilber should have been put in a better location than acacia park, we don`t even let our kids play on the playground there, I`m sure it is used as a bathroom and who knows what else.

I'm feeling there is more to the story. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will), but in the park at 9:30 at night...seems to me that all involved could have possibly been up to no good.

Who even uses the parks anymore here? Beggars wanting cigarettes, money, your food, a ride. KISS OFF! 9 out of ten times the restrooms are locked and I see young and old urinating by them. Real classy! I used to like to get away from the office and eat my bagged lunch in the parks, but no more.

Dear julie, all funding for crime stoppers got the big axe a year and a half ago in a round of city budget cuts. The only people working there are dedicated volunteers who give up their time in an attempt to help rid this city of some of the rampant crime it is experiencing. Do you keep up with every crime that happens here? Why do you expect them to? Feel free to volunteer your time. They would love to have some help!

It's time for the citizens of this town to deal with the issue ourselves. Our police force is of no use. Even if someone had called the police for help, it takes ten minutes before someone even answers the phone. We need to take back our town from these thugs and punks. Vigilante justice works.

Once again, I will say calling crime stoppers is a joke!!! They have no clue what you're talking about when you call.
