Employees at the Liborio Market are safe after an armed suspect attempted to rob the store Friday night.
Police say that the store clerk and six other employees were holed up inside an office when officers arrived on scene. According to the victims, an armed man entered the store, located on the 1600 block of S. Circle Drive, and threatened an employee working in the back of the store. The employee told police that the suspect demanded that he open the safe, or else the suspect would kill him and other employees in the store. The employee told the suspect that he didn't have a key to the safe. All employees then locked themselves in an office and called police.
Police searched the store using a K-9 unit, and determined that the suspect had left the store without taking anything. All employees were left unharmed.
The suspect was wearing a ski mask and gloves at the time of the attempted robbery, preventing witnesses from getting a physical description. Police say he was dressed in a black sweater and jeans. Anyone with any information about this incident are asked to contact Springs police, or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
