Police are investigating a shooting at a Colorado Springs convenience store.

Just before 5 a.m., police were called to the 7-Eleven on the 1800 block of South Nevada on reports of a shooting. The victim, a 21-year-old male, was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest/upper arm area. He has been taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Ford Focus was found in the area with blood on the interior. Police believe at some point the victim was inside the vehicle.

Police are on scene at both the 7-Eleven and the nearby Chief Motel, where the victim is believed to be staying.

Based on an interview with the victim, police are searching for a Hispanic male, 5-foot-4, wearing a black, blue and gray jacket. Police say the victim is otherwise being uncooperative with the investigation. Based on an employee's tip, officers are also looking for a blue 4-door older sedan in connection to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call police, or contact Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

The 7-Eleven is located near Southgate and Cheyenne Road.

Go figure. 2 shootings in the last week-ish, both involving minorities, both taking place in the wee hours on a week day. As a cop pal o' mine once told me, "Nothing good happens between midnight and five a.m. in a city, so do not be out and about in the wee hours". Then again, maybe it's all a misunderstanding, and this gentleman was simply stopping at the 7-11 for a gallon of gas and a grape Nehi...

Clue to Violent Crimes Unit @ CSPD: If you arrest this guy, and you probably will, the case is not 'closed' with an arrest. You've got to convict him. That's the hard part. Thus, don't 'lose' the tapes or DVD's. Might help you later in court. If Detra Farries gets off because of this type of bungled investigation, there are going to be a lot of people in this town who are ticked off.

You are an idiot. It's not up to the PD to convict, it is the job of the DA's Office. The case is closed as far as the PD is concerned when they make an arrest. FYI, it was the DA's Office that screwed up and lost the tape for the Farries case. Try reading a couple of articles and get educated before typing.

You don't think that calling someone a name like "idiot" and attempting to belittle someone as you did in your last sentence gives you the appearance of being of higher intellect, do you?

@@@vietsubvet, it really doesn't matter. The first post is entirely uneducated. The problem is our 4th judicial district. They are out of control and everyone blames the police. It's time for people to get educated and do something about it instead of trying to sound intelligent by saying things like "clue to the police". As if this pin head is smarter than they are or something. That poster hasn't got a clue.

Do you mean "throw"? You must be a product of our wonderful school system, where spelling and grammar do not matter!
