The arrest affidavit for Joseph Sanchez shows he accidentally shot his brother when he was emptying the chamber of a handgun.
The shooting happened at the Sante Fe Apartments at 1228 Delaware Drive, just Northwest of Galley and N. Academy Monday. Officers say the 19-year-old victim was awake and breathing when the ambulance took him to the hospital.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim's roommate and brother, 20-year-old Joseph Sanchez, found a gun under the chair and was attempting to empty the chamber of the gun when it fired, going through the bedroom wall and striking the victim before exiting through the opposite wall.
Sanchez has been arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree.
