Hooked - (Stacia Naquin)
Updated: 10/11/2013 - I'm SO CLOSE to being able to do a pull-up. So my trainer introduced something new into my training.
An armed bank robbery and a carjacking appear to be related.
Police believe the suspect stole a car from a woman at gunpoint, then used the vehicle as hit getaway car after robbing a local bank just minutes later.
The carjacking happened at 4:45 p.m. on the 4100 block of Mira Linda Point in Colorado Springs. According to the victim, the suspect walked right into her garage as she was getting things out of her car and came up behind her.
"I heard someone say 'give me your keys,' and first I thought it was my hubby."
But when she turned around, an armed man was staring her down. He signaled that he had a gun and forced the victim to hand over her Toyota Corolla. He reportedly apologized--then drove off in her car.
Just moments later, a KeyBank less than a half-mile from the carjacking site reported that a man held up the bank and got away with a unknown amount of cash. The car he drove off in resembled the car stolen a few blocks away.
"We saw this guy pull up really fast," Samantha Lopour recalled. "[He] circled the bank and then pulled in...left his car running."
A couple minutes later, witnesses say the suspect was out the door and speeding away.
"I was like, 'I think that bank just got robbed," Lopour told 11 News.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old white man, 5-foot-10 with a medium build, light-colored hair. He was wearing a camouflage-colored shirt and jacket with blue jeans.
The stolen car is described as a 2013 black Corolla, Colorado license plate 995-UOA. Police say it appears to have been the one the suspect used in the bank robbery.
Police ask that anyone who sees the vehicle call 911 immediately--do not approach the car. Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call 444-7539 or 444-7581.
