Two 7-Elevens were struck in the Colorado Springs area early Sunday morning. Police are now looking for the men involved.
The 7-Eleven on the corner of Pikes Peak and Circle Drive was the first to be hit overnight. Police say a man entered the store just before 1 a.m. and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk told police the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police say the clerk thought she saw a handgun in his hoodie pocket, but the man never displayed the gun.
Police say the man took off on foot. Officers set up a perimeter that included a K-9 unit, but they didn’t find the robber.
The man is described as a 25-year-old white man, 5-foot-4 with reddish blond hair and a goatee. The man was wearing a blue hoodie and a baseball hat at the time of the robbery.
The second 7-Eleven was robbed around 5:20 a.m. on the 3800 block of Astrozon. Police say the suspected entered the store carrying a sharp object--possibly a knife--and demanded that the clerk hand over cash. This suspect also got away with an unknown amount of money.
The suspect has been described as a black man in his 30s, 5-foot-9 with a medium build. He was reportedly wearing a white t-shirt and jeans with a second shirt wrapped around his head.
The two robberies do not appear to be related.
