Suspects Arrested For Two Crimes At Same Store, Same Day

Police say they’ve arrested suspects in two separate crimes that both occurred on the same day at a single store.

Police were called to J's Liquor Store on 31 E. Fillmore St. twice on Monday, December 26. The first time was around 6:07 p.m. when Ron Mullens, 36, tried to shoplift several bottles of liquor but fought with employees until officers arrived.

When an officer did arrive, Mullens tried to run away. The officer used a stun gun and arrested him for robbery and resisting arrest.

Later, just before 8:00 p.m., a second crook hit the same liquor store. He jumped over the counter, hit the clerk near his left eye and took an unknown amount of cash from the register.

Detectives now say they believe that man was Mark Burdine, 27.

Burdine was arrested in the 3500 block of N. Cascade Ave. Thursday afternoon. He is charged with robbery, a felony.

Police say that the two crimes at J’s Liquor Store were not related.

A mug shot of Burdine is not being released at this time. Police say that they have yet to photo line-ups and that releasing the photo could compromise their investigation.

My 'partner' and most of my other gay friends as well as my MMJ dealer live in the south part of town - I am highly offended that you would suggest installing a fence just to keep people safe! What about MY rights?

Thank you for showing us your usage of google. Where in the article did it say conceal? Where in the article did it say he fought with employees while having said items in his possession? You assume facts and perhaps it would be better if you do not. Maybe if you let the facts play out, you guys wouldn't shoot innocent bystanders. Sincere in thinking you are ignorant, Epic Fail

Actually if you READ the article the FIRST sentence says "A liquor store was able to fight and detain a suspected shoplifter until police arrived Monday night. They were, however, unable to fight off a second robbery attempt less than two hours later." so yes they did say fight! But way to show us your ability to READ

I will type slow so you can read this, fighting is not the litmus test. Where were the items when he was approached? Really it is so simple that a complete MORON like you can get someone to read this down to your level.

You are wrong sir. When you conceal an item in a store, it is prima facie evidence that you committed a theft. You don't have to leave the store. Now, when the guy fought the employees, the theft became a robbery, even though he didn't leave the store.

    Police Officer.

"Liquor Store Robbed Twice In Two Hours" Seeing as how the criminal was stopped the first time, there was no actual robbery. So the store was robbed only once. It's ok. We realize the night crew and weekend crew are not the best and the brightest. Put your helmets back on and stop pushing the shiny buttons.
