A woman was mugged in a Springs parking lot Tuesday night. Police are still searching for the suspect.

Police were called to the Kohl’s Department Store parking lot at 4910 N. Nevada Ave. just before 8 p.m. Tuesday after a woman reported her purse stolen. The woman had been getting something out of car when she was shoved from behind by the suspect, who then grabbed her purse and fled the parking lot. Officers searched the area thoroughly, but there was no sign of the suspect.

The victim was unable to determine the race, sex or age of the suspect, and only knows that he or she was wearing a black hoodie and red sweatpants. Police say that no weapons were reported at the scene, and the only additional information they have at this time is that the suspect ran eastbound when leaving the scene.

Anyone with any information on this crime are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

People in Colorado Springs need to be vigilant and keep their eyes open at all times. The police are not here to protect anyone, they are far to limited by a lacking budget and the absence of staff and support. In all truth, this woman has no excuse, she allowed herself to get mugged by letting down her guard. Criminals move upon opportunity, like a lion upon the lamb; to that, she happened to be the lamb, the lamb that didn't even see the lion coming. Last time someone attempted to mug me, he ended up looking down the barrel of a .40 caliber gun. I now carry a .45 whenever I go out, and I encourage every citizen to exercise their right to self defense. Had this woman kept her eyes open, she would at least had a description determining if it was a man or a woman. Nowhere is safe in Colorado Springs anymore . . . not even your very home, be on your guard.

I agree Erika the petty crimes in Colorado Springs are running rampted in all areas and yes Pete is a fool, thinking there is an imaginary line in the city to determine the good guys from the bad. Hopefully the person wasnt hurt and she has cancelled her credit cards and bank cards so this thief has nothing more than a ladies purse to deal with. And last but not least if anyone knows the where abouts of Pete's brain please return it to lost and found.

ATTENTION CROOKS/BANDITS/GANGSTERS: Please devote your criminal acts to other parts of town, if you get my drift. We moved north to avoid your clutches. Apparently you didn't get the memo. Thank you. Bye for now.
