It was a terrifying moment for a Colorado Springs mother. She believes two men tried to kidnap her daughter.
It happened Monday morning near 21st and Cimarron in Colorado Springs. Police said a newer model silver truck pulled up to the family’s backyard where the 2-year-old was playing.
The toddler’s mom, Jamie, told 11 News she was just a few feet away, grabbing something from her car when she noticed one man in the truck starting to get out.
"You rushed toward that truck. Ya I was yelling at them to get away and I knew, I just knew he was going to get her," Jamie said.
She said the suspect quickly shut his door and sped away. She ran back inside with her daughter to call police and tell her husband Josh.
"The faster I acted the better because I don't want any other kids to get taken away, it's like my worst fear," Jamie said.
Josh said the whole incident has been emotional and has a message for other parents.
"If you're walking down the street and your kid is three feet behind you, picking up a flower or anything, you know, keep your eye on your kid because somebody could drive up in an instant," Josh said.
Their daughter is safe. Now, they're asking all parents, and everyone, to be on the lookout for the two men.
Police say both suspects are Hispanic men. The one who got out of the truck is possibly late 20s or early 30s. He was wearing a beanie and has a dark beard. The driver is also in his late 20s or early 30s with dark hair and big eyes.
