Fountain police are searching for the person responsible for two attempted burglaries.
Police received two reports of alarm activations between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. Tuesday in the Fountain area. Officers arrived at the first call, a First American check cashing business on the 7000 block of S. Highway 85/87, at 5:36 a.m., where they discovered a shattered window in the front of the business. Police do not believe anything was stolen.
Just before 6 a.m., police were called to a Radio Shack on the 6700 block of Camden Blvd, where the front window was also shattered, though the perpetrator was unable to enter. As police were arriving on scene, they saw a man fleeing the area in a red Toyota Camry. The suspect has been described as a white man with medium-length black hair, a mustache and a couple days' growth of facial hair. The Toyota Camry is believed to be a late 80s or early 90s model; officers have described the paint coat on the vehicle as “dull.”
Anyone with information on the suspect or the attempted burglaries is asked to call the Fountain Police Department at 382-8555 or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
