A robber may be posing as a CIA agent and police say there's something distinctive about his looks that may help you identify him: his crooked teeth.
Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, the suspect approached a man at a Goodyear Store on Austin Bluffs near North Academy.
"This guy straight up ran after me, no questions asked," said Ricky Pennington.
An early evening at a Goodyear Tires parking lot, for Pennington, was the wrong place at the wrong time.
"What stopped him from shooting me, I don't know,” Pennington. “I think he probably figured I'm not going to get this guy."
Ricky said it happened fast, when he stopped to secure some mattresses in the back of his truck. His attacker pushed him against the door, tried to take his wallet and the truck, and said he was with the CIA. Ricky didn't buy it for a second.
"Every tooth had a gap," he said of his attacker.
Police report the same man pulled a gun on a woman at her apartment on Half Turn Road about an hour later, only a few blocks away. He took her laptop computer, valued at $2000, and fled to the south, towards Village Green Park. Police searched for the man but were unable to find him.
"You'll see sometimes when a suspect has a distinctive feature as in this case where we have two victims describing him with crooked teeth," said Sgt. Darrin Abbink.
Abbink said Wednesday the man police are looking for is armed and dangerous. He is also labeled with a nickname that puts him on the public's radar.
"They'll remember distinctive features,” Abbink said. “When they see it in public, it will trigger that memory and might inspire someone to call."
The staff at the Goodyear Tires on Austin Bluffs is already on alert.
"If you do see someone like that, definitely notify the authorities," said manager Gary Stone.
Ricky Pennington is on the lookout too for the man who tried to take his truck and only scored a memorable moniker.
“I'll always remember that face," he said.
The suspect has been described as a black man in his late 20s, with a short afro-style haircut. His teeth are distinctive; they are either unusually crooked or gapped. Police say anyone who sees this man needs to consider him armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information that might help police find this man can call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
