Two men have been detained in possible connection to an earlier marijuana dispensary break-in overnight, thanks in part to the efforts of a police canine.

Police had been searching a neighborhood just south of Red Rock Canyon Open Space since 3:15 a.m. Friday after a burglary alarm sounded at the Pure Medical marijuana dispensary on Busch Avenue. When officers arrived, two men fled on bicycles.

Officers searched the neighborhood near the dispensary, and say K-9 Rico found one of the men hiding in a garage on Bott Avenue, near Highway 24 and 26th Street. After further investigation, officers determined that the second suspect could be hiding inside the home attached to the garage. They soon found who they believe is the second suspect in the burglary, though they are still trying to confirm for certain. For now, the second person detained is still considered a person of interest, not a suspect.

The first man has been positively identified as a suspect in the burglary. He has been identified as Damon Bean.

While the investigation is still ongoing, police are not searching for anyone else at this time.
