A man tried to pull a woman into his minivan, and hit her when the woman tried to get away.

Police say the suspect left the area after assaulting the victim, and the woman was able to call 911.

The incident happened just after midnight Wednesday at the IHOP on 2015 S. Pueblo Blvd. in Pueblo.

According to the 38-year-old victim, she was walking from Red Creek Springs Road to the IHOP when a white minivan pulled up next to her. A man inside asked her if she needed a ride; she said no and kept walking. The van left.

When the victim reached Glenroyal Drive, about a half mile from the IHOP, the van reappeared. This time, the driver got out and asked again if the woman wanted a ride. When she refused, the victim said that the man grabbed her coat and tried to drag her into the van. She struggled to get away and fell. She told police the suspect "socked" her in the face, then drove off and left her behind.

Police searched the area, but were unable to find the minivan.

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old Hispanic male with a strong Spanish accent, about 5-foot-6 and 150 pounds wearing a white shirt, jeans and a black ball cap.

The van has an expired license plate pf 572KBX. It's described as an old white van with a blue stripe down the side.
