El Paso County officers are searching for a silver SUV carrying a young man suspected of theft.

A spokeswoman with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said that a witness tipped officers off about a theft that occurred Sunday morning. Early reports indicated the suspect may have stolen guns, but that has not been verified. The witness told the sheriff's office that the suspect had gotten away in a silver SUV.

The suspect is a white male in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a white hoodie and a black baseball cap.

A deputy initially responded to the scene. Officers have since been checking vehicles around Colorado Springs that match the description., but nothing has panned out. The SUV was first spotted going southbound on Murray Boulevard.

The investigation is still active, and additional details remain unavailable at this time.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.

KKTV I have to agree with these guys. Theft occurs on a daily basis in El Paso County. What makes this theft news worthy and different from all of the others? If my wallet is stolen and the suspect leaves in a black truck can I call you and will you make it breaking news?

@ Erny & Pete: Agreed, I can get better info from a fifth grader. What happen to the basic principles of of conveying a story... Who, what... oh I'll just go to KRDO.

Pete's right. There will come a point where this MAY be a news story. Unless the person who wrote this article doesn't know how to write, that point is NOT now. Since this station loves 'Breaking News' stories, maybe this should be one? "We have Breaking News. There was a theft somewhere in El Paso County today. We don't know what was taken and virtually everyone in town drives a similar vehicle. Aside from that, this is the hot story of the day!"

Let's see.....we have a theft, but we don't know what was 'thefted' or where it happened. We're supposed to be looking for a 'Silver SUV.' I have one, maybe I should turn myself in. And our suspect is a WM in his 20's. With this minimal amount of info, why in the world is this even 'news?' There is no story here guys.
