Denver Area Police Impersonators May Have Struck Again

A police impersonator targeting women may have struck again.

Authorities in Denver believe the latest incident, which occurred Friday night, may be connected to two other incidences, one of which resulted in a sexual assault.

Friday night, a police impersonator pulled a young woman over at Park West and 20th Avenue in Denver.

Last Sunday, police say two men in a fake police car stopped a woman at Havana and Alameda in Denver. Both were wearing uniforms and had a badge.

Detectives say the men ordered her out of the car and forced her to the ground, where she was attacked.

The next afternoon, 19 miles away in Jefferson County, it could have happened again. The would-be victim prevented an assault when she noticed something wasn't right: the suspect's shirt said "police" while he had a "sheriff" sign on his shoulder.

The woman began calling for help, and the suspect took off.

The victims reported that the suspects used a police car with rotating lights. One man is described as having a large belly, and was wearing a uniform.

For now, these fake cops are still on the streets, so police are asking drivers to be vigilant--and contact authorities if any suspicious police activity is seen.
