A Springs man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being shot during an attempted robbery Saturday night.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Rockwood Ave. around 9:40 p.m. on reports of a shooting in the area. Witnesses saw a man with a knee injury, limping away from the scene. Officers were unable to find him when they arrived, but learned that the victim had been taken to the hospital.
The victim told police that he had been meeting up with a man he met online, who turned on him and tried to rob him. During the robbery attempt, the victim was shot in the knee.
The suspect has been described as a black man around 6 feet tall, wearing a blue shirt and jeans at the time of the incident. He may have been driving a light-colored vehicle, according to police. Anyone with any information is asked to notify police, or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
