Man Severely Beaten Walking Home; Police On The Hunt for Assailant

A man is severely beaten walking home Monday evening and now police are on the hunt for the assailant.

Police were called to the 4100 block of Galley Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday to investigate an assault. When officers arrived on scene, a 28-year-old man had severe injuries to his face. He told officers that he was walking home on Galley Road when he was approached from behind by an unknown male suspect. The suspect assaulted the victim and robbed him before fleeing eastbound on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'9" tall, slender build. He was wearing a green plaid zip up sweatshirt, dark colored pants, and a grey beanie style cap.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

It is a sad day when the public blames an innocent person for getting attacked in broad daylight. Please accept my apologies for the inconsiderate and heartless people who have place blame on the young man walking home. It is terribly sad that is this day and age, any person is a target for these thugs that go around beating people up and stealing what they can from them becuase they are too lazy to work for an honest wage. Of course, when these perpretrators are finally found and taken into custody to be charged for their crimes; they get a plea deal and are right back out on the streets committing more crimes of violence.

Wow u people are REALLY messed up in the head...My nephew was jumped from behind, 4 weeks ago. It was NOT his fault and yes, he probably WAS walking faster, trying to get home!! It is NOT the victims fault, its the careless/heartless people who dont have a conscience, who think its cool to go around traumatizing people. Wow, some really heartless people in Colo Spgs

Mike and Joe: You guys are pathetic; blaming this poor victim for getting beaten the way he did? People like you are the reasons why these things happen. No morals, no care for what happens in our blessed city. My prayers to the victim in this awful incident.

I think the victim is lying. That's a pretty good description from someone who was randomly assaulted. SOunds like a drug deal gone bad.

Unfortunately, in this town you have to be prepared for something like this to happen (especially in this area) at that time of night.
