Police say a Springs man was set up by an acquaintance early Saturday morning, resulting in an assault and carjacking.

The victim's acquaintance lured him into trap by calling and asking for a ride to the area of Market Street and Wheeler in Colorado Springs. When they got there, a man confronted them with a gun and demanded the victim get out of the car. The victim turned to his companion, only to find that he, too was aiming a gun at him.

When the victim refused to get out of his car, both suspects began beating him with their guns, then dragged him out of the car and left him on the ground while driving off in his vehicle. The victim told police the man he knew was the one who drove off in his car, while the second suspect drove away in a separate vehicle.

The victim was treated at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released suspect descriptions at this time, but say that the unknown suspect drove away in a black pickup truck with a silver toolbox in the bed. The victim's car is a 2002 silver Grand Prix, license plate unknown.
