Police have arrested a man and charged him with second-degree murder after another man was found dead in a front yard on the 8200 block of Camfield Circle near Austin Bluffs and Woodmen.
The man's body was found shortly after midnight Wednesday. Police received a call just after midnight about a disturbance on the block.
Thursday morning, Colorado Springs police ruled the man's death a homicide and identified him as Juan Carlos Lopez-Herrera, 38. The coroner's report states that Lopez-Herrera died of stab wounds.
On Wedneday, May 8, police arrested Elton Lamar Johnson, 20, of Colorado Springs and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with Lopez-Herrera's death.
A man named Ron lives in the home where the Lopez- Herrera was found and tells 11 News he rented a room in the home.
"[He was the] nicest guy in the world, no problems," Ron said. "Everybody loved him, so that's why we're a little wondering how could this happen in this neighborhood, especially."
Neighbors are equally shocked by the crime.
"This is a really nice neighborhood," said Joe who lives across the street from Ron. "This should happen somewhere else."
