Police are searching for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident overnight in the Springs.

A vehicle parked in the area of Yampa and Wahsatch was hit by a car early Friday morning.

Officers have located the car they believe is responsible--but no suspect could be found.

The victim in the crash came across the suspect's vehicle while driving around after the accident. He found a silver Honda Civic beat up and abandoned near Willamette and Cascade.

Police say they know who the vehicle's owner is, but are still trying to determine who was driving the car at the time of the crash.

No one was injured in the accident, but the victim was left with thousands of dollars worth of damage. Unfortunately, the victim is not alone--he's only the latest in what police tell 11 News is a growing trend.

Police say an increasing number of parked vehicles are being hit overnight by drunk drivers, who are taking side streets on the way home from the bars in an attempt to avoid police.

Cars parked alongside these narrow roads are left vulnerable to these intoxicated drivers.

Police are aware of this strategy, and are focusing patrols on these side streets.

Anyone with information on this hit-and-run are asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
