A lone gunman got away with cash stolen from a liquor store late Tuesday night. Officers searched the area but couldn’t find him.

Police say the suspect entered Lake Liquors at 501 S. Union Blvd. around 11:50 p.m. He pointed the handgun at an employee and demanded the money.

After the employee handed cash over, police say the suspect ran out of the store and headed southwest.

Employees tell 11 News the liquor store was robbed back in January. Ben Johnson was working that night, and says he worries about his safety at work.

"It's just gonna happen over and over until Colorado changes its laws," said Johnson.

Johnson believes it's the same crook that keeps coming back and demanding cash.

All his actions were the same. He was dressed basically the same, except he had a different colored bandanna this time," said Johnson.

The suspect in the most recent case is described as a white male in his 30s or 40s. He was approximately 5-foot-8 with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored, hooded sweatshirt and a bandana over his face.

@ Hmm...you're so stupid, it doesn't matter what race you are, crime doesn't discriminate, but since you wanna talk about race, let's talk about Josh Carrier, Chris Mountjoy, the guy who stole the copper wire that was recently caught etc. Those are all "white" people who have committed criminal acts here in Colorado Springs! You just don't know how stupid you look on here with your back wood mentality!

It kills me that people automatically thk blacks and hispanics commit this crime white people u are the worst criminals in the world you the crimes you have committed since the beginning of time has left this world in shambles so when you talking about others look at history and see what your race has done before you judge others i look 4ward to the demise of your race.

I live in the senior complex next door and this is terribly frightening. Something must be done to reduce the crime in this area. If Colorado Springs were to clean up the crime in the Prospect Lake area it would be an ideal place to live. The views are magnificent here and there is a high number of retired seniors which is what drew me in the first place, but things seem to be getting worse. The owner of the liquor store is a very nice gentleman and the guy working the shift, Scott, is a terrific guy. They did not deserve this and neither do the law abiding citizens in this middle to low income neighborhood. Most of us seniors will not even go out at night anymore. It's time for the citizens to take back the neighborhood. Thank you and God Bless all of us.

For only $190,000 we can have cameras installed downtown while the crime increases everywhere else.

oh that's classic. white guy getting mad at a racist comment. guarantee if the suspect was black or hispanic, there would be at least 26 comments on the story, with 14 of them being racist comments. haha

Come on!!! Who cares what color, nationality, origin or religion the gunman's background is....point is in this neighborhood the blacks, browns and whites equally commit the same amount of crimes. I am SICK of it. Too bad we cannot see that things need to change and soon. Instead of drawing people to our area, we are chasing them away due to drugs, gangs and crime. It's time to get past the racial divide and become intolerant of criminal behavior.

A majority, 90% of the crime in that neighborhood is the blacks and mexicans robbing from neighbors. Rival gang area as well, the gang task force needs to do a sweep of that neighborhood. That neighborhood was cleaning up but once again economy goes bad and certain elements moved back in and that neighborhood unfortunately will not recover this time from the mongrel hordes now residing their.

Thats true, they have the same backwoods country mentality you do. It still doesn't make it right and I don't condone racism from white people either.

Well, it's a good thing the Dems voted against the make my day better law. Otherwise, the store clerk might have been able to protect himself and the criminal might not have gotten away...
