A Colorado Springs man says it was his son-in-law that died in a hit-and-run in Fountain Saturday night. Andre Harris tell us 11 News that the victim was Mikayl Jones.
Harris says Jones married his daughter about six weeks ago, and the couple just learned a baby was on the way. Harris is hoping the suspect comes forward soon.
"He passed tragically," Harris told 11 News. "Somebody out there knows something and they need to come forth."
Three persons of interest have come forward regarding that deadly hit and run, but no arrests have been made. Fountain police say they are not releasing their names, because all three are juveniles.
Fountain Police will not confirm the victim is Jones. They tell us they will release the name, once the El Paso County coroner makes a ruling.
The victim was found dead Saturday on Fountain Mesa Road just north of Grand Peak Road.
Police say at 8:50 p.m. they were investigating reports of a drunk man walking into traffic in an apparent attempt to get hit when they received a call about a man lying in the road about half a mile away.
Police say the man was dead when the arrived at the scene. The victim was in his 20's. No other information has been released.
The area was closed while police investigated.
