A refusal to share a cigarette has left one man injured.
Just after 11 p.m. Friday on the 2400 block of Tremont Street, police say the suspect approached the victim asking for a cigarette. When the victim refused to give him one, a fight broke out between the two men. The suspect pulled out a knife and sliced the victim, then fled the scene.
K-9 teams searched the area, near Fillmore and Nevada, for the suspect but were unable to locate him. He has been described as a black man, 20-30 years old, 6 feet tall and thin, wearing a dark t-shirt and shorts at the time of the assault.
The victim sustained minor injuries.
