Mother Of Teens Targeted In Drive-By Says Shooting "Random"

It's every parent's biggest fear: a drive-by shooting targeting a group of teens hanging out over the weekend.

Police say an SUV, speeding down Zion Drive, stopped suddenly in front of one of the homes, where a group of teens were parting ways for the night. Two men reportedly got out and began firing at the group.

The mother of the teen hosting the party tells 11 News she has no idea why someone would randomly shoot at their home.

She says her son and some of his friends were inside listening to music and playing video games early Sunday morning when an argument broke out. The mother ended the party.

That's when the SUV pulled up. The men shot at the house at least 10 times, striking the garage and smashing through the windshield of one of the vehicles leaving the home. A shot grazed the ear of one girl, who was taken to the hospital. She has since been released.

There is no description of the shooters, other than they may have been in a red Chevy Trailblazer. If you have any information on this shooting, you are asked to call police at 444-7000, or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP to remain anonymous.
