Shots fired near a Springs elementary school caused some damage to the building early Thursday morning.
One of the rounds hit a window at Canon Elementary School, shattering some glass. The incident occurred sometime before 4 a.m. Thursday, so no one was present at the school.
Police say a group of at least three unidentified people were firing guns near the southwest side school. The round that hit the window was one of 11 fired.
The suspects left the scene in a silver Volkswagen Jetta and a red 90s-model Oldsmobile.
Workers with District 12 responded to the school to secure the window.
The school is located on the 1200 block of W. Cheyenne Rd. If you have any information about this incident, call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
